Have you ever used a haulage company that let you down?

If you haven’t, then you’re very fortunate. If you have; you’ll know the problems that this can generate – and the possible revenue at stake if your customers decide to buy through your competitors.

Looking for reliability in your next haulage service provider is always a great start.

Generally, the most important parts of your company are production and haulage. Therefore, if you’re a company who produces, then it’s obvious that you need a haulage company who acts as a partner. When your goods leave the line, you need to know that you can trust the haulier to be there on time and ready to efficiently transport your products to their destination.

The most important thing is to choose a haulage company you can trust.

You should look for company that is not afraid to guarantee its reliable service – and don’t just take their work for it – do your own research when finding a UK haulage company. You need a haulier who can agree to timing regardless of the distance they will have to travel.

But it’s not all about haulage companies being prepared to ‘tow your line’

It’s a about partnerships. Understand how each other work and ensuring that there are mutual agreements about what’s expected. For example: the haulier should know what your long-term requirements will be and be up-front and clear that they are capable of ensuring order fulfilment. At the same time, you should understand what the companies usual transport procedures are – do they need 72hrs notice, etc?

It’s also important within the logistics management process to ensure that providers of haulage are not only reliable – but care about delivering your goods in a careful manner. Whilst there are times when accidents occur, any good haulier will ensure that each and every delivery is secured in transit in the correct ways within the haulage vehicle.

Load your own cargo?

What! Seriously, one of the things to bear in mind is that whilst your next haulage partner could be held in high regard by many – there is always a possibility that you could end up with a lackadaisical driver. Say he’s in a rush to get to the next job and doesn’t take the necessary time to load the freight. This wont happen if you insist on having your own people to load the goods. If it’s important to you – just ask for it!
